Putter Care
General Care:
-
Always keep a headcover on your putter while in play
-
After use, make sure your putter is dry and stored in a dry space
-
Do Not store your putter in a wet or dirty headcover
Carbon Steel Putter Care:
-
Keep a light coat of oil or WD40 on your putter, especially after use
-
Brown oxide care: a light coat of car wax will keep your putter looking new with a good
brown/plumb color w/out the oily finish. However, a light coat of oil or WD40 may need
to be applied occasionally.
-
Rust Patina care: this finish must be kept dry in order to keep the original rust look.
Oil/WD40 will remove the rust but the rust look can be regained by wiping with rubbing
alcohol. A light coat of car wax is a good option to retain the rust and brown look
-
Raw or distressed steel care: a light coat of oil/WD40 is required to keep this finish from
rusting or let it rust for a personal look. Cleaning can be done with 0000 steel wool and
some rubbing alcohol and then a reapplication of oil/WD40
Cerakote Ceramic Coating:
-
This is the most durable coating but will chip if not kept in a headcover (its not
indestructible)
-
This coating requires a minimum amount of care and can be cleaned with soap and
water.
Stainless Steel Care:
-
While SS is resistant to rust and corrosion, keeping the putter clean with soap and
water or alcohol will keep your putter looking new.
